About

In this Module 3 of the Junior Penetration Tester learning path, you will learn active and passive reconnaissance and deep enumerationof network services in the ciberbots.local lab: public intelligence gathering (OSINT), live host and port discovery, protocol-level probing, and mapping misconfigurations, without moving to exploitation yet. It is a good entry point for anyone who wants to learn about mapping an organization's attack surface, whether you are interested in a career in penetration testing or simply want to understand how security professionals identify vulnerabilities that lead to initial footholds. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to: • Gather public intelligence using Whois, DNS, search engines (Google Dorking, Shodan), social media, and code repositories. • Transition effectively into active reconnaissance, understanding the exact boundaries of interacting with target assets. • Enumerate web applications , identifying WAFs, mapping out underlying web servers, testing APIs, and analyzing SSL certificates. • Perform detailed network enumeration by identifying live hosts, mapping network topologies, and conducting precise port scanning. • Extract critical configuration and identity data from application protocols including SMB, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, NFS, Telnet, and LDAP.
