Complete Cybersecurity 101 first. Introduction to Cybersecurity already defines encoding vs AES, one shared key vs a public/private pair, ECB vs CBC, and PKI. This unit attacks those mistakes in a notes portal, not the vocabulary itself. In this module of the Applied Cryptography learning path, you inspect a Ciberbots "secure notes" portal that treats encoding vs encryption as the same thing: Base64 labeled confidential, an AES key in a JavaScript helper, and repeating config under AES-ECB. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to: - Distinguish encoding from encryption when an application labels Base64 as "encrypted storage." - Recover a symmetric key from a front-end helper and decrypt AES-CBC with OpenSSL. - Recognize identical ciphertext blocks as an AES-ECB fingerprint and decrypt the config blob.
