About

In this module of the Junior Penetration Tester learning path, you extend Network & Infrastructure Pentesting: Part 1 with additional protocols and pivot chains. Prerequisite: Complete Network & Infrastructure Pentesting: Part 1 before starting this module. While earlier modules focused on discovery and mapping, identifying exposed services, uncovering versions, and gathering evidence, Network & Infrastructure Pentesting: Part 1 introduced the exploitation of critical network-level services and foundational infrastructure, including DNS, LDAP, SMB, FTP, and SMTP, alongside related pivot paths leading to a member host. Network & Infrastructure Pentesting: Part 2 (this module) extends that foundation: you will abuse additional exposed services, harvest credentials, and chain misconfigurations across SNMP, SQL, NFS, SSH, VNC, WebDAV, and print infrastructure. Rather than spreading across every possible protocol in one lab, this path tightly focuses your efforts on turning misconfigured infrastructure (directory, mail, file, monitoring, and remote-access services) into actionable exploits and multi-hop chains (for example SNMP to LDAP, FTP-looted credentials to MySQL, SMB-looted passwords to SSH). Additional attack vectors such as VNC, WebDAV, and print services broaden your attack-surface understanding beyond the Part 1 core. Network penetration testing is the core of the offensive security profession. This module elevates you from being a scanner to being a practitioner by forcing you to turn enumeration findings into real, impactful compromises. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to: • Abuse common network-service misconfigurations (for example weak SNMP communities, world-readable NFS exports, default database credentials, and unauthenticated remote-desktop or WebDAV paths) in a controlled lab. • Chain findings from one protocol into another (for example SNMP credential leaks into LDAP binds, or loot recovered in Network & Infrastructure Pentesting: Part 1 into SQL and SSH access). • Execute controlled exploitation workflows across extended services (SNMP, SQL, NFS, SSH, VNC, WebDAV, print) and document impact. • Use harvested credentials and service metadata to extend access across the lab environment. • Relate each compromise to realistic detection (evidence in logs/SIEM) and hardening guidance for blue teams.
