In this module of the Cybersecurity 101 learning path, students are introduced to Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), the art and science of gathering information from publicly available sources. Students learn that before any cyberattack, reconnaissance is performed. Understanding what information is publicly exposed about an organization is the first step in both attacking and defending. This is a hands-on CTF-style lab where students investigate a fictional company called Ciberbots Technologies. Prerequisite: Comfort with a Linux terminal and basic HTTP concepts (URLs, headers). Prior exposure to DNS record types is helpful but not required. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to: - Understand what OSINT is and why it matters in cybersecurity - Use web reconnaissance techniques (robots.txt, source code analysis, JavaScript inspection) - Understand Google Dorking concepts and find exposed files on web servers - Perform DNS enumeration and subdomain discovery - Extract intelligence from WHOIS records and TLS certificates - Analyze file metadata (EXIF data, PDF properties) using exiftool - Investigate git repositories for leaked credentials in commit history - Compile findings into a professional reconnaissance report For inquiries, please write us at https://www.darkrelay.com/cybersecurity-course-inquiry
