About
The Web Applications 101 module provides a high-level technical analysis of the architectures and protocols that drive modern web ecosystems. This course dissects the HTTP/HTTPS protocol stack, Request/Response lifecycles, and the nuances of stateless communication. Professionals will evaluate Frontend/Backend segregation, RESTful API design, and the implementation of browser security controls (CORS, CSP), providing the foundational knowledge required for Web Application Penetration Testing, secure architecture review, and API security. This module is a critical prerequisite for security researchers and developers who must understand web internals to identify and mitigate application-layer vulnerabilities. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: • Define what a web application is and how it works. • Dissect the mechanics of the HTTP/HTTPS request and response cycle. • Evaluate modern web application architectures and component distribution. • Analyze technical nuances of HTTP methods, headers, and status codes. • Audit client-side JavaScript for hidden API endpoints and undocumented logic. • Verify and audit the implementation of browser security headers (CORS, CSP). • Interact directly with application-layer data storage via simulated SQL environments. • Understand the end-to-end workflow of web requests from DNS to DOM rendering.
